I'm hoping someone can give me a quick pointer on troubleshooting because I'm supposed to be heading for Texas tomorrow. I found an old post So I ran all of the air out of my system and the brake lights turn off.

I assume this is the foot pedal valve causing the problem. What would be the best fix? Just clean the plunger? OldRed98Jul 4, Yes, let employers and TruckersReport text me with new opportunities, job alerts and other career information to the number I provided.

I can't remember the air line routing, but you will have actually two switches, one in the primary line, and one in the secondary brake delivery line. It should be near the brake valve, so either under the dash or at the firewall on the outside.

Jake brake, anti-lock brakes, '05 Int'n'l Dump Truck Discuss non-crawler related issues here keep it sane, please. The Jake brake isn't working. Its activation switch gives an incorporated flashing light instead, when activated. The manual says that during the need for ABS activation, the system will override the Jake.

I suspect there may be a connection. The ABS light for the series truck should come on with the key switch, flash during initial system startup and checks, then go out. Instead it just comes on and stays on. The Jake problem had a couple of intermittents, then refused to work, all about the same time as the ABS light issue. I started looking at the instrument lights when I got a check engine light that coincided with a cooling water leak from the "plastic" overflow tank that I first spotted on the ground.

There are no trailer ABS issues. The overflow tank has a low radiator water switch. After the radiator tank replacement, the check engine light is now off, yet Jake and ABS still remain inactive. Otherwise the truck seems to operate just fine. I'm suspecting there might be some coincidental "connection" for all this through the computer s. I've read on line that there might be a way of resetting some ABS units with a magnet it trips an internal "reed" switch not necessarily or specifically for my truck yet.

I've also read that trouble codes might be available either through a flashing ABS light when some obscure button is pressed or through the electronic odometer when some cruise control buttons are pressed although some opine that this is only for engine problems. I've done the usual Google searches to get this far. I've briefly searched the maze of wires and hoses on the truck to check for broken wires. The very busy dealer is 60 miles away and I'm trying to avoid the long truck drive, getting back home after leaving the truck, and then having to reverse the logistics to pick it up again.

Any ideas or suggestions for where else to look? I had abs issue and it was ignition fuse. The light on the dash was very dim. Now that they are working I can hear the solenoids clicking in an out when you start it up. Hope this helps Ron. I found 3 pressure switches under the steering column not knowing exactly which one belongs to the brake light sistem if any, but after I replaced all of those the lights still stay on.

The new switches are the same specifications as the old ones and fitted in the right location each.

I appreciate your help. Rigjockey In Gord we trust! GAnthony said:. Rigjockey said:. I would go with that. Take it for a run and if the cruise won't work it is probably the switch, If not then you probably have a short somewhere.

Welcome to HeavyEquipmentForums. Can anybody tell me where the brake light switch is on a International with Air Brakes I'm trying to connect a Hayes Brake Controller electric to it. I got everything done except the Red Wire from the Controller is suppose to connect to the Brake Switch on the truck and I cannot find any wires coming out around the air brake valve under the dash.

I looked on the firewall under the hood and don't know what I'm looking for. I tried to run a wire straight to the brake wire at the rear of the truck but when I apply my brakes the brake controller light blinks as though it receiving a signal from my turn signals. Any explaination and pictures would be helpful. BubbaNov 25, Joined: Nov 15, Messages: 40 Location: morth missouri.

I can't find no wires around the pedal and don't know where to look on the firewall. Help would be great. BubbaNov 26, Since you've got a then I don't think you have a 12v brake signal anywhere on the truck, a might be like the new body style and you have something like 2v at the pedal or in your case 2v somewhere on the air brake system and two orange wires going to the back of the truck with blinkers and tails combined, there are no flasher relays or anything on the truck, the computer does everything.

You need to have International program your ECM to send a ground through a certain pin on a connector on the driver side fender when you step on the brakes. Then you can run that ground to a relay in the cab and run 12 volts to it, when you step on the pedal you'll have 12 volts and send that signal to the brake controller module. At least that's the way my and are, I haven't looked at my since we only use it for plowing in the winter.

Thanks for the advice. I think I will hunt somebody to wire it for me. That a whole lot of mojo for me to figure out.
